iStart Challenge

The iStart contest has now closed. Thank you to all those who entered.

Have you got a great business idea? Why not take the iStart Challenge?

If you're aged between 16 and 24 and live in Caithness and North Sutherland, you could be in with a chance to win a cash prize and support to develop your business.

Run by the North Highland College with support from the North Highland Regeneration Fund, the iStart Challenge is designed to encourage and support entrepreneurial spirit amongst young people in the area.

The first phase of the competition will run until 9th October and is open to individuals and teams of young people living in the area.

Following the closing date of the first phase, a panel of expert judges will assess the entries and select the best ones to go forward to the next stage, where those selected will pitch their idea to the panel.

The panel will then select the winners in each category, who will be invited to an awards ceremony in early December where they will receive their trophy and prize, as well as hear a motivational speech from Ashleigh Porter-Exley, winner of the Young Apprentice.

All of those shortlisted to go forward to the pitch stage will be awarded £100, and cash prizes will also be given out in each category (see below).

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • Overall Winner - £400 prize
  • Best Presentation - £200 prize
  • Creativity / Innovation - £200 prize
  • Best Improved - £200 prize
  • Best Proposal - £200 prize
