Distillery licence application a success Published on 20th June 2014

An application made by Dunnet Bay Distillers to be allowed to sell alcohol has been approved.

The company, set up by husband and wife team Martin and Claire Murray, was granted its request for a provisional premises licence at the Highland Licensing Board this week.

The couple are to operate a small gin distillery in Dunnet, along with a visitor cetnre, shop and a small out door drinking area offering tastings and sales of various products, including gin-based cocktails.

The firm, which earlier this year secured an £83,990 package of support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, has also received a low-cost loan from the North Highland Regeneration Fund.

The licence, granted at the board's meeting on Tuesday, permits the sale of alcohol between 11am and 10pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and from 11am to 11pm for the rest of the week.
