iStart Challenge Finals

The North Highland Regeneration Fund and North Highland College will be hosting the iStart Challenge Finals Event at The Weigh Inn Hotel, Thurso on 3rd December 2015 from 08:45 to 13:00.

Run by the North Highland College with support from the North Highland Regeneration Fund, the iStart Challenge is designed to encourage and support entrepreneurial spirit amongst young people in the area.

Young people aged between 16-24 in the area were invited to put forward their business ideas, and a shortlist of eight has been selected to pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges, who will select winners in the following categories:

  • Overall Winner (£400 prize) – sponsored by the North Highland Regeneration Fund
  • Best Presentation (£200 prize) – sponsored by MFR
  • Creativity / Innovation (£200 prize) – sponsored by the Caithness Collection
  • Best Improved (£200 prize) – sponsored by the National Enterprise Challenge
  • Best Proposal (£200 prize) – sponsored by Caithness Chamber of Commerce

As well as the opportunity to see these ambitious and enthusiastic young people pitch their business ideas, attendees will also have the chance to hear from keynote speaker Ashleigh Porter-Exley, winner of the BBC Young Apprentice 2012, and from local entrepreneur Jill Innes, of Storyboard Films, who will also be showing a sample of her work produced for North Highland College.
